Blessing in Disguise

I *hope* that this is a blessing in disguise. I don't like it anymore than if it wasn't. So, as you know that we went to the Neurosurgeon for Layla on Thursday. I went in with a list of questions, but when the Neurosurgeon came in, he had already seen the MRI results and showed us what they looked like, etc. Then he proceeded with now we need to talk surgery! It was a thought that it MAY be needed but I think I was a bit more on the optimistic side of it because all my questioned revolved around if she didn't need surgery and restrictions to not make it worse, etc. So it just seemed from then on, I was baffled, I didn't have any questions because the ones I had were now irrelevant! Needless to say, Thursday was not a normal day for any of us, my mother in law went with me and we heard the doctor and understood but I believe that our minds were protecting ourselves by not allowing us to fully grasp the situation. My 4 YEAR OLD daughter is going to undergo brain surgery. There's no good way to look at it except that the doctor who is doing it (we looked him up!) is good at what he does since he's apparently the Chief of Pediatric Neurosurgery at the hospital that we're taking her to! There WAS good news however, he believes that her scoliosis is caused by her Chiari Malformation (why she's having the surgery) so he believes that after the surgery AS SHE GROWS that it will correct her scoliosis (the blessing in disguise because that means she *may* not need surgery to place rods in her back for the scoliosis.) It probably won't fix it 100% but if it improves it dramatically and no complications happen from the surgery then I'm very happy. But as Mom, I'm terrified! I'm happy that she has a GOOD doctor to take care of her, but it still is what it is and scares me to death. So, if you would, on October 16th, the day of her surgery, just put out good vibes out for her whether it be prayers or whatever it is that you practice, I would appreciate it! My little girl has gone through so much and I know it still could be far worse, but I don't like when ANY kid has to go through so much so early in life.

Wish Us Luck!

It's been a little crazy around here so I haven't wrote a review this week, but I'm not forgetting about any of you readers! I'll write a review on Friday, but I've been a little anxious for what is to come tomorrow! I have a 4 year old daughter, Layla who has scoliosis. She had been complaining of pain in her back so I made sure to mention it to her Orthopedic Surgeon about it. He said that was something that they take very seriously-- when they start complaining of pain. So he said that he wanted to have a MRI done! We had the MRI done last month and they called back with the results-- She has been diagnosed now with Chiari Malformation Type 1. So, they led us to a Neurosurgeon who we meet with tomorrow morning! It's for a consultation and in the visit, they'll be able to tell me whether Layla's case is mild or severe. I hope it goes well! I've been scared out of my mind since I've found out that she has it! I knew nothing about it but then reading what I could on the internet is terrifying! At least tomorrow, I'll get some answers about Layla's particular case and either be worried about what IS happening or NOT worrying about what isn't happening for her! Either way, I'll be informed and that sometimes is just the biggest helper! It's not fun NOT knowing!

Fogless Shower Mirror with Squeegee by ToiletTree Products

You don’t know how useful a fogless mirror is until you’ve tried one! First off, I had the honor of trying out the Fogless Shower Mirror with Squeegee. At first I was unsure how it easy it would be to apply in my shower, but it really wasn’t that bad! I was delayed on trying it because I thought it was going to be more complicated, but it was really rather easy! My husband at first thought it was stupid and thought that it was more in the way than anything. The reason being that he can’t see really much at all without his glasses, but once he tried it, he’s been using it every day since! It used to be when he shaved (after showering) that he’d HAVE to use aftershave because if he didn’t, his skin would be irritated by the shaving. Since he’s been shaving in the shower, I think because of the extra moisture for shaving in the shower, he no longer needs aftershave and skin doesn’t get any irritation! He’s more willing to shave in general because it doesn’t hurt anymore! So, needless to say, I’m super excited about that!   You also wouldn’t believe how useful it can be for a woman in the shower, washing your face has become easier and faster! No missing spots and if you get soap in your eyes or anything you can remove it all. It’d drive me nuts having to wipe my face off a bunch of times trying to guess where the soap was coming from. This simple product has become of GREAT use for our house! Oh yes and it stays fogless as long as you put warm water in the back of it each time you shower. It’s not that hard, it slides right off it’s base to put water in. This isn’t a problem, but wanted to state so people were aware that it’s not fogless ALL on its own with ZERO help.

Ozeri Ceramic Knives Review

I received the Ozeri Elite Chef Black Ceramic 3-Piece KnifeSet and I was AMAZED! I wasn’t all that familiar with ceramic knives before using these! Boy, have I been missing out!! I only wish that they came in a block set! I’m officially addicted to ceramic knives though so they’ve done their job on that! I cut all sorts of things with them and didn’t get any trouble with cutting anything. I cut steaks, chicken, and potatoes—none of them giving me any trouble on trying to cut with them! They were really sharp, but I suppose would have to be to cut so well through things that normally give you problems with ordinary metal knives!  I can’t really express of how much I LOVE these knives! I just wish I had more of them!! The only thing that seems off with them, but is NOT a problem for me- it says that they’re supposed to weigh less than other nights but to me they seem heavier. The fact that they’re ceramic means that they will not corrode or rust with moisture, oils, and acids. I highly recommend these knives to anyone and everyone who has reason to use knives (if you cook at all or are in the kitchen even to make a sandwich)! My only thing to say to Ozeri is that I hope you come out with a bigger set for like a block of them!!

Foulmouthshirts.com Review

I was looking for cool and different shirt companies. I love clothes! I love clothes that are different and I enjoy a good funny t-shirt! I found FoulMouthShirts.com and was excited when I did! I was then even more excited that they wanted me to review a T-Shirt! Unlike some places, they allowed me to pick what shirt I wanted to review and so I did! I picked a less offensive t-shirt however, for the purpose of this review. I didn’t want to have a TOO vulgar of a t-shirt upsetting any of my readers! I will post about some of their more vulgar t-shirts that they have just to let everyone know what kind of shirts that they do have. I don’t have a problem with their shirts, I enjoyed a lot of them that were more outspoken because sometimes I believe that people are too afraid of saying what they want or think! Foulmouthshirts.com is NOT afraid to put it out there and I LOVE them for it! They have reasonable prices for their shirts too! 

I got the shirt “I Didn’t Say It Was Your Fault… I Said I Was Going To BLAME You.” Now this was a shirt that amused me because it’s something that my mother would say to me—she’s a bit of a smartass.  I’m 24 years old and it’s something that she would still say to me- she’s a bit of a quirky woman. Anyway, I tried to get something that wouldn’t get dirty looks, but more looks of amusement! The quality of the shirt was excellent! I’ve ordered shirts from different places and sometimes they run small or maybe fade or lettering peel—these shirts did NO such thing! Did I also mention that I LOVE them because they’re outspoken?! It’s just a bit of “fresh air” kind of feeling. I don’t like the easily offended. I’m respectful of others BUT there ARE some people that have their sensitivity up a little too high! They also carry Offensive T-Shirts, Funny T-Shirts, Stupid T-Shirts, F^%K T-Shirts, Beer Drinking T-Shirts, Attitude T-Shirts, Funny Pop Culture Parody T-Shirts, and Custom T-Shirts.

Acure Organics Review

I came across Acure Organics when I was desperately looking for a “cure” for my excessively dry hair! Growing  up, I always had hair that looked oily even after I showered- it was very annoying! Anyway, so I was on a search to fix my hair because I have a sensitive scalp and so I feel every little tangle that my hair has and it hurts! Then, I came across Acure Organics and I told this wonderful lady my needs and she was kind enough to send me a few things that she thought my meet my needs! She sent me Pure Mint + Echinacea Stem Cell Volumizing Shampoo, Pure Mint + Echinacea Stem Cell Volumizing Conditioner, Argan Cell Stimulating Body Wash, Argan Oil + Mint Facial Cleansing Cream, Day Cream: Gotu Kola Stem Cell + 1% Chlorella Growth Factor, Balancing Rose + Red Tea Facial Toner, and Dark Chocolate + Mint Lip Balm!

Now for starters, I’m not a big fan of mint of really anything. I do like the little mint hard candies, but most everything else- not big on! Even so, when I used the shampoo and conditioner- I was amazed! I could feel the change in my hair already and I hadn’t even finished using the products! My hair felt very silky and very easy to brush now! I was beyond pleased since I wasn’t having any luck with other shampoos & conditioners! I loved the Argan Cell Stimulating Body Wash too! It smelled wonderful and left me feeling refreshed! It also left my skin residue free and the clean kind of soft!

I also don’t normally care for things on my face- I have sensory issues when it comes to things on my face, but the Argan Oil + Mint Facial Cleansing Cream felt just fine on my face! It felt like it was actually cleaning it and ridding of the dirt and dry skin that was there before! I don’t even know where to begin with the Day Cream! I guess the smell, it was VERY delightful to have my skin! The facial toner was a little weird because you had to spray it on your face, but I got used to it quickly! After using the face products for a week, I felt like I had a brand new face already!

The Dark Chocolate + Mint Lip Balm was nice- who doesn’t like a good lip balm?! It kept my lips looking and FEELING healthy! This would be especially good in the winter when your lips get dried out!

Acure’s slogan is “Acure for your skin. Acure for the Planet.”  I certainly found a cure in their products!

Leave of Absense-- I'm back!

Well, it seems like it's been one thing after another to keep me away from all of you wonderful readers. I'm deeply sorry! So much has changed it seems, we got a puppy and so she required a lot more attention than she does now (potty training for her) then decided to Potty Train my daughter and that required even more attention than the puppy it seemed! After that, I thought it was going to be on track but then our durango went out of commission and trying to get it fixed! Oh then it got even better-- the puppy stepped on my laptop and broke the screen putting it out of use! Well, now we're doing better Sassy--the puppy--is doing very well now! Layla--my daughter--is also doing pretty well! She's starting to get the potty training, she went in Walmart's bathroom to go this week and I was excited about it! I felt a little silly about being excited that she went to the bathroom at Walmart, but then I was told that I wasn't crazy and that was a big step! So because of all these hiccups that have kept me away, I've fallen behind on my reviews!! I'm deeply sorry to you and to them! So, I plan to play "catch up" this week and next!

Celebrate the Men in Your Life with Darcee's Hope!

For starters, I already enjoyed Darcee’s Hope and the products that she offers! I loved her alone because she was real, nice, friendly, and she was warm. Sometimes you email a company regardless of the reason and you get a business man/woman. To me, you want someone’s mother, sister, FRIEND to talk to. Last weekend, he spoiled our daughter by getting her a $30 STUFFED ANIMAL because she really liked it. She’s 4 and really hard to say “No” to sometimes. The idea is that he’d do anything for his “girls” to make them happy! I love these shirts that Darcee’s Hope offers! I just absolutely love shirts with different creative things on them like saying, cool looking pictures, etc. I like the funny and attitude ones the best! I had the privilege of trying out 2 shirts from BetterThanPants.com! I got to pick what 2 shirts that I was interested in trying, already I’m loving what I’m seeing so far and very anxious to try them! I have now worn the t-shirts that I have gotten from them a few times! They’re still great and holding up looking good! For starters, I’m the one that goes around and tries to take pictures of everyone and everything so I can play around with my camera too! I’m always learning something new on that thing! When I found the “I Shoot People” T-shirt, I was very excited and thrilled! I thought it was the perfect T-shirt for me! It was funny, creative, and oh SO true! It was a must have, as I think any photographer would think so too or even anyone who loves to take pictures!

The next shirt that I found on there that I just had to have was a pregnancy shirt. I’m not currently pregnant,  but trying for our 2^nd and I remember how well the pregnancy hormones went the first time around! I was such a delight! Hahahaha! I think I scared my husband, but apparently I didn’t scare him enough since we both want more in our family! So, when I seen the “Due to the Influence! Maternity Shirt” I just could not pass it up! It’s just too funny and too cute! It’s just like a disclosure statement for anyone and everyone around you so they will have been warned!

Village Candle carries a lot of wonderful candles! I had the honor of experiencing “Waterfall” in the Radiance Collection! The Radiance Collection contains a crackling wooden wick. The wrap around the jar was also beautiful which is made with Lumiglow technology that brings the artwork on the jar to life, bringing all of your senses to life as well! The Radiance Collection candles come in 8 oz., 13 oz. and 21 oz. jars.  I loved the scent that I picked out, it filled most of our 2 story house within minutes! The fragrance wasn’t too strong or not strong enough- it was just perfect! I really loved the crackling wooden wick. I had never experienced a wooden wick before so I had no idea on what to expect. I was a little afraid that once it burned once, then I’d have problems trying to light it again because the wood would be gone. That was not the case in the slightest! The candle is slow burning so you don’t go through your candle quickly, but it smells wonderful and with just one candle you can fill your home with a wonderful smell!

[REVIEW] Karma Wellness Water

I enjoy how Karma Wellness Water distributes its flavor into the water. It allows you to do it by pushing in the top of the lid releasing the flavor of your drink! I received the flavors of Pineapple Coconut, Orange Mango, Raspberry Guava Jackfruit, Passionfruit Green Tea, and Acai Pomberry. For starters, I tried the Passionfruit Green Tea first, but it was a little more tart than I was expecting or hoping for. I then, tried the Raspberry Guava Jackfruit- I got the same taste of too tart for me. So, I decided to empty out a little of the water- about an inch lower than they put in the container. I then, mixed the drinks from then on like that and it was then PERFECT! So, I believe that either they put too much water or not enough flavor FOR the amount of water that they put in. I loved the Pineapple Coconut and Orange Mango! I LOVE mangos, so I was VERY excited to try this flavor!! I don’t like coconut, but the Pineapple Coconut still tasted great! Karma Wellness Water has a belief that if you do something good for others or yourself (such as drink healthy) then you’ll get a positive outcome and in this case, you’re getting good tasting water and being healthy! Feel good about what you drink! Each flavor is supposed to increase the positive effects of Mind, Body, Spirit, Balance, and Vitality! [REVIEW] Ozeri Digital Blood Pressure Monitor with Arm Cuff

Ozeri offers a lot of awesome products. I had the opportunity to try their Digital Blood Pressure Monitor with arm cuff.  First off, I believe that this is something very useful to have in your home because  it is always nice to know if your blood pressure is healthy! I’ve checked mine a few times and mine is well into the healthy range. I need to be checking my husband’s more to keep an eye on it because the one time we tried it on him, it said that he was prehypertension but I can’t remember when he took it as far as if he recently ate or not. Apparently, that’s something that can affect the outcome. You’re not supposed to check your blood pressure within an hour of eating. So maybe keep that in mind for yourself because maybe I’m not the only one that didn’t know that tidbit of information. There are a few people, at least in my family that could have use in this product!

Ozeri’s Digital Blood Pressure Monitor was very easy to use. It has the base that has the information on it, etc. It also comes with an arm cuff that has a picture of how to place it on your arm correctly.  To help you determine whether or not you’re normal, prehypertension, and hypertension- it has an automatic color-coded indicator. I love the other features like there’s a detection for an irregular heartbeat! The digital Blood Pressure Monitor also stores 80 readings which for each one has a date and time stamp. All this monitor needs is 4 AA batteries and you can find out if you have normal blood pressure. Having normal blood pressure is important for starters, if its consistently not, you would need to take blood pressure medication which you can get off of but if it was as easy as that, you would think that people would change their health habits to not be on it to begin with. Having high pressure  puts you at risk for heart disease and stroke! Also having high blood pressure can mostly be prevented.

I’m copying these facts that I seen on the CDC’s Blood Pressure website:

• 67 million American adults (31%) have high blood pressure—that’s 1 in every 3 American adults.
• 69% of people who have a first heart attack, 77% of people who have a first stroke, and 74% of people with chronic heart failure have high blood pressure.³ High blood pressure is also a major risk factor for kidney disease.

• High blood pressure costs the nation $47.5 billion annually in direct medical expenses and$3.5 billion each year in lost productivity.

• Almost 30% of American adults have prehypertension—blood pressure numbers that are higher than normal, but not yet in the high blood pressure range.³ Prehypertension raises your risk of developing high blood pressure.
• Reducing average population sodium intake from 3,300 mg to 2,300 mg per day may reduce cases of high blood pressure by 11 million and save 18 billion health care dollars annually.

Inbru is a coffee flavoring made from American Rice Hulls with aromatics and essential oils. When opening it, it looks kind of similar to sawdust. You just put a scoop in with your coffee grounds before being brewed and then brew it together for flavored coffee! I wanted to try Raspberry Truffle and Butterscotch Drop as I wanted to try something that I don’t see in normal flavors or that I could get in a creamer! I put in an extra scoop of the Inbru flavors so that the flavor was strong enough. Not knowing how strong it was to begin with, I wanted to be sure that it was good and flavorful! The Raspberry Truffle was excellent and light in the flavor but strong enough to taste! It also had a wonderful aroma but even tasting it. That’s the only thing better than something that tastes good- is smelling how good it is going to taste before doing so! The Butterscotch Drop didn’t have as strong of a smell, but it sure did taste DELIGHTFUL drinking it in coffee! I could taste both flavors (not in the same cup just to clarify) very well and loved them both! I’m interested in a lot of the other flavors in the future!

[REVIEW] WOW Baking Company

In the past, I haven’t had much experience in wheat and gluten-free products. It wasn’t intentional, I just wasn’t sure exactly on the benefits or how it would taste versus other products that did contain wheat and gluten. Well, after having WOW Baking Company products, I’m happy with what I tried!! I didn’t like all of the products that I received, not because they tasted bad, but because I don’t like certain things such as things raisins or nuts in cookies/brownies or similar things like in this case, cranberries. I received Chocolate Brownie, Oregon Oatmeal cookie, Ginger Molasses cookies, Lemon Burst Cookies, and Peanut Butter Cookies. I wasn’t as big of a fan of the chocolate brownie or the ginger molasses cookies. The chocolate brownie was just a little more rich than I was anticipating or wanting. The Ginger Molasses cookies were pretty okay, but ginger seems to make me nauseous. The peanut butter cookies were good- I could taste the lack of gluten and wheat. Did I forget to mention that these cookies are SUPER soft??! My favorite cookies were the Lemon Burst! I couldn’t put them down, they were so soft, gentle in my mouth, and wonderful in flavor! The other flavors that I wish I could have tried was the snickerdoodle and chocolate chip. I’ve had both of these kind of cookies, but it’s different trying them as wheat and gluten-free! You don’t realize how much there is a difference until you’ve tasted it!

[REVIEW] Quest Nutrition Natural Protein Bars

I seen Quest Low Carb Gluten Free Protein Bars somewhere and their flavors sounded SO delicious! I felt compelled to write them about reviewing their products! My husband unfortunately was not a big fan, but I believe that protein bars are something that you want to eat for a purpose. They’re NOT candy bars so it’s not all chocolate and peanuts kind of thing! There were only a few flavors that I didn’t care for. The benefits of a protein bar are not only for its convenience, but also if you workout at all then it’s really great as it helps maintain and building muscles! You don’t have to workout to be eating proteins bars, but it’s best for you right before or just after a workout! I didn’t get to eat all of the bars that they sent me because there were so many, but I got to try a lot of them to know that Quest brings you premium tasting protein bars! Protein bars just like protein shakes don’t taste like other candy bars or shakes like you get through fast food. They’re to help you, which usually means that it’s not going to taste that great. Quest was nice that well, they put in some great flavors into something that typically doesn’t taste as good so that you could enjoy them more than just needing to use them! My 3 favorite were flavors- Lemon Cream Pie, Strawberry Cheesecake, and Peanut Butter & Jelly. I was getting full eating these proteins bars, which is another helpful them just after a workout. It’s putting that substance in you without being bad eating before or after working out.

Cinnamon Roll- tasted like a cinnamon bun, but not too rich so I enjoyed it!

Apple Pie- it was a little rich in flavor, I had trouble actually eating all of it because of its flavor. It also had pieces of apple in it.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough- taking it out, it looked just like the Cinnamon Roll, but not as flavorful. It was a little on the bland side so a little disappointing, but still not terrible.

Strawberry Cheesecake- SMELLED DELICIOUS! Tasted wonderful too! Definitely had a strawberries AND cheesecake taste without the unhealthiness of eating the real thing!

Lemon Cream Pie- aside from not being a creamy or pudding taste- it did taste like Lemon Cream Pie! It had a light lemon/crust taste! Loved it!

Peanut Butter & Jelly- it had a slight jelly flavor, but mostly tasted like peanut butter, which was really fitting for a protein bar!

Quest also sent me Quest Cravings Protein Peanut Butter Cups. Now, I’m a huge fan of Peanut Butter Cups- typically, anyway. The peanut butter in the cups was actually just fine and tasted great and a little normal for typical peanut butter cups. The chocolate, however, had a dark chocolate taste on it with an after taste. I was not a big fan of these. They were also HUGE in size for peanut butter cups!

[REVIEW & GIVEAWAY] Piczzle Photo Puzzles

I’ve had the opportunity to try Piczzle Photo Puzzles out.Piczzle Photo Puzzles makes your photos into puzzles. I have a medium size of 30 pieces. Putting it together was simple enough and it didn’t seem like 30 as quickly as it was. I thought it was neat to have a picture as a puzzle though! The only thing that would have been nice would be that it felt like a regular puzzle. It just didn’t feel as soft as others did. It wasn’t bad or anything, it just didn’t have the soft natural feeling to apuzzle as others feel. I’m not all that familiar with other picturepuzzles so I have no idea if it’s so easy to be able to be made like other typical puzzles that you just regularly buy in a store. I would have to try out other picture puzzle companies, but at the present time, I am still happy with Piczzle giving me the neat product of a picture puzzle! Another thing that’s a plus with them is that they don’t contract out to have their puzzlesmade as far as these puzzles are Made in America! That may not make a difference to you and as far as the puzzle itself, it doesn’t matter to me, but it’s just our country, I think can use all the help it can get and supporting people to be able to work- makes me happy! Piczzle also has Wooden puzzlesand I think those would be pretty neat to have! They have a variety of designs and types of puzzles such as a heartshaped or round puzzles.
